Ah the holy trifecta of the credit union world: Leagues, CUs, and CUSOs… To have been a part of all three—and succeeded beautifully in each one—is impressive. It also means you have some seriously stellar insight to offer.
Lucky for us—and more especially, for our listeners—we got to pick the brain of one such expert. LeAnne Case, Senior VP of Marketing and Communications at The Servion Group, sits down to share her journey—this month on CU Changemakers: Women On Work (WOW).
What’s Covered?
LeAnn’s beginnings in the CU space.
From her start at the North Dakota CU League to CUs (both small and large) to her current role at The Servion Group, LeAnn shares some fantastic details about where her career has taken her.
Leagues, CUs, and CUSOs: what she likes best about each.
What our expert loved most about the League? The people she worked with. Their passion for the movement and their involvement in communities has truly inspired her.
LeAnn’s experience at CUs—particularly a smaller one—gave her the opportunity to try on ALL of the hats. And that amount of perspective has been enormously helpful.
Now, at The Servion Group, “I have understanding of all of it,” she says. “Because an association is very similar to a CUSO, right? And so, I still take that ‘here’s why we’re here’ and am able to share that and still have that service heart that you learn in all of the positions.”
Women who have inspired LeAnn along her path.
LeAnn offers grateful shoutouts to many women in the CU world. “When I hear the word ‘pioneer’ I think it has to be this woman who is like Mother Teresa; everybody knows her, and she’s in this really big position. But when I think back to my journey, there have been so many women who have been there. And they haven’t necessarily been this big spotlight person.
What they HAVE done, across the board? Helped LeAnn want to be a leader who is intentional about her identity, who is “faith-filled, bold, and loving.”
The Servion Group—origin story, mission, marketing.
This 34-year-old CUSO has a fascinating story, and LeAnn shares details you’ll want to tune in for. But we’ll leave you with this fun fact: The name (which was changed in 2018) was chosen because “Serve” is in the title, and “ion” is Latin for “going above and beyond.”
LeAnn’s passion project, Vive Unlimited.
This project has gone through quite the evolution, and there are exciting things planned for its future! But the initial idea—to offer “girl weekends” with motivational speakers that give fuel to driving conversations—was born of a desire for real connection. As LeAnn puts it, “I believe that having deeper connections creates a stronger me.”
What excites our expert most about the CU women’s movement?
Our expert’s answer here is simple: collaboration. In LeAnn’s mind, collaboration brings ownership but also that connection that is so important to her—both personally and professionally.
